New Brunswick Licence Plate

New Brunswick plans to eliminate licence plate stickers

In an attempt to modernize services and boost productivity, the government has proposed legislation that, if approved, would eliminate the use of registration stickers on all vehicles, including commercial and off-road vehicles.

As always, drivers will need to renew their registrations. Next spring, the Motor Vehicle Act and associated regulations would be amended to remove the need for the stickers. Enforcement officers would electronically verify registration, and drivers would still need to renew their license every year.

Local Government Minister Aaron Kennedy, who is also responsible for Service New Brunswick, stated, “The proposed amendments reflect how technology has evolved and how we can make services more convenient for New Brunswickers.” “Removing license plate stickers will save time, cut expenses, and streamline the registration process.”

Renewal reminders will still be sent via mail or email to assist drivers in keeping their registration current. In the upcoming weeks, text message reminder notifications will also be accessible.

Customers who renew their car registration online under the new system will be able to either print their own registration certificates right away after making a payment or have them sent. Additionally, people might phone TeleServices at 1-888-762-8600 or renew their registration in person at a Service New Brunswick service center.
