Codiac Regional RCMP responded around 8:00 p.m. to reports of an incident at the École L’Odyssée football field on Promenade Léopold-F.-Belliveau, where the host team was facing off against Moncton High School.
Two young people remain in police custody following a disturbance involving a weapon during a high school football game in Moncton on Friday evening.
Police confirmed midnight that two arrests were executed at approximately 10:15 p.m. One youth turned himself in to authorities, while officers apprehended a second individual matching a description of the suspect. Investigators are continuing to gather details, and police have not yet announced whether formal charges will be laid.
No further details about the weapon, the nature of the incident, or potential charges have yet been released.
In a statement sent to families on Friday night, Anglophone East School District Superintendent confirmed that the field was evacuated as a precaution following the report.
No injuries were reported, and the investigation remains ongoing.
